Firework sales block welcome

-

READERS have been sharing their views on Sainsbury’s stopping selling fireworks in its shops:

Yes, well

SusanEmily Jones:

done Sainsbury’s.

My husband is from Republic of Ireland and you can’t even light fireworks without a licence, let alone buy them over the counter at your local supermarket!

Fireworks are long overdue only being sold for organised events, within a time window of one day each side of Fireworks night/Bonfire night. Public noise disturbance and misery and distress to animals is not acceptable.

Lisa Staunton: Les Jackson: Tania AE Morris:

I’ve said for years it should be organised events only and you should have to have a licence of some sort to buy them.

Good move Sainsbury’s. Hope others follow.

It beggars belief to walk into a store and find freely available explosives!

Val Tregurtha: William Thompson: Helen J Harper:

all follow on!

Brian Mcauley: Stuart Bullock:

this.

Carol Rostron:

Yes. Hope they

Great news, let’s hope other shops follow suit.

Yes high 5 to

Well done Sainsbury’s. Let’s hope the other stores do the same.

Sally Anne Softley: Dawn Payne:

Yes great.

Yes definitely, good on them. Let’s not forget the people who suffer with PTSD too.

Absolutely. Well done Sainsbury’s let’s hope they rest follow suit.

Personally, I think you should only use fireworks if you have a licence to do so and at a public display. I hate seeing them lit at peoples homes and watching them skid, instead of into the air, along the ground. Also, in the wrong hands they can be extremely dangerous. Scary!

Julie Murgatroyd: Ana Maria: Debbie Robson:

Great news let’s hope others follow suit.

This is a really good move let’s hope other places follow suit.

Cynthia Croft: Stuart Walker:

displays only.

Jenna Cooper:

Organised

Only professionals or licence holders I’m scared at being hit by one by kids letting it off.

Adele Roberts: Steve Mitchell:

events only.

Joan Major: Sara Lewis: Ruth Smart:

Well done. Yea, organised

About time, let’s hope the other shops follow them.

Absolutely. The amount of stress around at least a month plus leading up to Bonfire Night is awful. I run scouse pets 2 ... 38,000 members in Liverpool, we find increased findings of dogs in this period as they bolt on walks.

Sadly increased number of deceased cats as they bolt into the roads through the noise.

This is the busiest month of our year.

So pleased Sainsbury’s has implemented this ... let’s hope other stores follow suit.

Yes there should only be organised displays.

Fireworks should be restricted to organised displays that have council approval.
