‘Speed-date’ session for would-be volunteers
SOUTHPORT residents looking for volunteering opportunities are being invited to attend a speed dating-style event.
The volunteer speedmatching session is being run by Southport Community Centre at its Norwood Road HQ between 2pm and 4pm on
Wednesday, November 6.
Organisers say the event will be a “fun, fast and informal” way for residents to find their ideal match.
Participants will be able to chat to representatives from local voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, and learn about the opportunities on offer.
Staff from Volunteer Centre Sefton will also be on hand to offer expert advice on the advantages of volunteering, which include meeting people, making new friends, learning skills and being part of a team looking to make a positive difference to life in the area.
Sefton CVS volunteer co-ordinator Rachael
West said: “This event will be an informal, noncommittal way for Southport residents to find out more about volunteering with some of the amazing groups in the town. Volunteers help to provide many essential services in our community, and the speed-matching session will introduce participants to organisations that could benefit from the knowledge, skills and commitment they have to offer.”
