Dancers step up for awards

-

PUPILS from Marshside School of Dance in Southport had a successful day in the Allied Medallist of the Year competition.

They won both the classical sequence and Latin trophies.

After seven hours of dancing, the school gained 20 first places, 22 second places, 24 third places and 21 fourth places.

It was awarded the trophies as it scored the most first places in Latin and classical sequence.

Many of the dancers won individual trophies for various dances.

Marshside School Of Dance principal Karen Leach said: “We are so proud of our pupils who competed, they not only danced beautifully, they also represented our school in a polite and positive manner.

“We work hard to achieve our high standard throughout the school and pride ourselves on sound technique and having fun.

“The fact that the school is large is positive as we bring out the love of dancing in so many children.

“We have pupils who have been with us from three years to going to university and ex-pupils bring their own children.

“Older pupils help out younger pupils in our classes.

“All our classes are kept to a maximum of 16 children with four teachers in a class to bring out the best in our pupils, we make a big dance school feel small.

“We are passionate about our level of teaching and make it affordable to all those involved although we do offer individual lessons and competition training for pupils who want to follow this route.”

Marshside school of dance also teaches other styles of dance, including contemporary, street, commercial, and cheerleading.
