Homes firm staff in hospital charity ride
STAFF from Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West called into Southport as part of their fundraising ride for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
The cyclists began their route at the home builder’s Warrington head office, before heading to Lightfoot Meadows in Preston then stopping off at the Pavilion Gardens and Victoria Mews developments in Kew, Southport.
The visit was part of a 100mile ride throughout Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital also served as a stopping point for the cyclists before they returned to the finish line, back at their head office.
There were also a number of cyclists who took on a shorter route of 50 or 25 miles, cycling from the head office to Alder Hey and back.
The gruelling challenge followed the housebuilder’s previous cycle ride in July which raised more than £5,000 for the charity, set up to raise vital funds for the hospital, which treats 330,000 children, young people and their families each year.
The charity helps fund a range of activities and projects designed to enhance and improve the lives of its patients, including funding specialist medical equipment, hi-tech distraction equipment as well as special projects such as musicians, magicians and play specialists on wards.
Elinor Freestone, from Alder Hey Children’s Charity, said: “We are really grateful to all the cyclists and the wider team from Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West for choosing to support Alder Hey Children’s Charity in their cycle.
“The support received allows us to continue our work funding activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our children and young people.”
Robert Holbrook, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “I am incredibly proud of all the staff who took part in our cycle challenge from Warrington to our developments in Preston and Southport and back via Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Alder Hey is an incredible cause which is close to our hearts in the North West region, and we are happy that as a company we can challenge ourselves like this in order to raise money for the valuable work they do.” all
