We’re beyond pleased to get into the Good place

-

STAFF and students at Stanley High School in Marshside are celebrating after being given a “Good” rating by Ofsted.

Inspectors have praised leaders for their high expectations for students, the quality and breadth of the ambitious curriculum and the students who are enthusiastic learners and keen to show off their best.

This is the first time the school has been inspected since Ofsted introduced its new, tougher framework in September 2019 and the overall effectiveness has been judged as Good.

The school received a Good grading for all aspects of the inspection: quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; and leadership and management.

Head teacher Neil Moore said: “I am truly delighted for our school and our local community that we have been judged as Good for all aspects by an external inspection team.

“The high standards we set across the school foster positive attitudes for students and the pastoral care we provide students makes this a happy, nurturing, caring school.

“We have been on an incredible journey as a school over the last three years and student outcomes this year are extremely positive with a Progress eight score, which puts us second overall across the local authority.

“I am incredibly proud of the students and staff here at Stanley High School, especially the hard work they put in on a daily basis.

“We look forward to our Year 6 students joining us in September, in what will be our highest ever intake.”

Deputy head teacher Jenna Shawe added: “We are beyond pleased to be able to call our school Good.

“The improvements across the school are testament to the tireless work and dedication of all staff in school. Our students deserve a high quality education and upbringing and we are proud to work so closely with our families and local community in achieving this judgement.

“We will continually work on developing our school so that it remains at the leading edge of educational advances. I’d like to thank our families for their support over the years; we cannot provide great education without great support from home.”

Ian Raikes, executive head teacher of Southport Learning Trust, said: “We are delighted that the hard work of all staff under the leadership of Mr Moore has led to this judgement less than three years since joining the trust and became part of a family of schools who work together effectively.”
