Sporting gesture to hospital from firms
ASPORTS marketing and branding firm called into Southport Hospital with a lorry full of essential supplies.
Magnetic Activation would usually be enjoying its busiest period at this time of year, with a portfolio including West Ham United, Premier League Darts and Cheltenham Festival.
It is among dozens of sports marketing firms in the North which have seen events and their work dry up during the coronavirus pandemic.
Determined to help their local communities, they have formed Events 4 Covid19 as a way of using their knowledge, their contacts and their network to do what they can.
Magnetic Activation teamed up with The Great Run Company to help staff at Southport Hospital and Ormskirk Hospital with a lorry full of gifts including hundreds of bottles of water, as well as boxes of snacks and lip balm.
Magnetic Activation owner Oliver Brown said: “We have been working with Events4Covid19 across the north of England, but it is great to be able to offer support in our home town.
“We can’t wait to get back to creating amazing events with our clients, but in the meantime, we’ll do what we can to support the amazing front-line staff who continue to work tirelessly for our communities.”
Ashley Flint, charity fundraising manager at Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals Charity, said: “All the staff at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals would like to say a huge thank you to Magnetic Activation, Events4Covid19, and The Great Run Company for donating water, snacks and lip balms.
“These were very
well received and staff were touched by the thoughtfulness ... at this critical time for the NHS and for all of us”.
The Covid-19 virus had a devastating impact on the events industry and its suppliers. Many companies have had to postpone or cancel events and the industry has come to a halt, leaving thousands of suppliers, service providers and freelancers out of work.
A network of event organisers and suppliers large and small initially in the North
West and now in the North East has been created to pool their resources and work together to assist with requests from the NHS, local government, charities and any other organisations that need support now to help with any efforts to help the community in the fight against the virus.
Since launching at the beginning of April the team has begun or completed work on over 30 projects to support commendable operations from a grassroots level.
