Good result for care home
A SOUTHPORT care home is celebrating after being judged to be providing a “good” level of care, with Outstanding achieved in the Responsive category.
Connell Court, which provides care for 37 residents, is run by the national older person’s charity Methodist Homes (MHA).
A Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors’ report said: “Connell Court was exceptional at planning and providing End of Life Care, that families were actively encouraged and supported to stay while their relatives were receiving end of life care.
“The home has developed a programme of meaningful activities which residents are consistently encouraged to participate in while maintain important relationships outside the home and their individualised approach to maximise participation.”
Home manager Anna Harvey said: “The inspector commented that staff treated residents with kindness, compassion and respect, and noted that the residents were encouraged to remain independent as possible while their rights to privacy and dignity were protected.
“The service had a positive learning culture where staff were supported to reflect on performance and improve practice.
“We are all really pleased with these latest CQC results and especially proud that the inspectors have noted our improvement since last inspection and the hard working commitment of the team.”
She added: “With today’s uncertain climate and the Covid-19 situation globally, we have been extremely fortunate due to our organisational infection control processes and staff vigilance to have kept the virus away from the home and maintained the safety of our staff and residents throughout.”
