Help shine a light on your compassionate community

-

ONE thing the coronavirus pandemic has shown us all is that now, more than ever, we need to support each other by showing care and compassion to those who need it most – be they family members, friends, neighbours or colleagues.

Queenscourt has care and compassion at the

Investments such as Stocks and Shares ISAs, Investment Bonds and SIPP Pension Tranfers can be very risky. You could be due thousands of pounds in compensation.

There is no deadline for mis-sold investments and even if you no longer have any paperwork, we can still help. heart of everything it does, and to show its support of those helping others,

That’s why #teamqueenscourt has launched its Compassionate

Communities Campaign, which aims to shine a light on those who are going above and beyond in this time of national crisis.

The philosophy and practice of Compassionate Communities, where attention is given to the needs and wellbeing of others, has never been more relevant as we strive to support one another in these unprecedented times.

Queenscourt is inviting members of the wider community to share examples of how they are supporting family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours and clearly demonstrating that Compassionate Communities are thriving, at this most challenging of times.

The stories that are shared will feature on a dedicated Compassionate Communities page on Queenscourt’s website, www.queenscourt.org.uk and will also be seen as blogs on Queenscourt’s social media – hopefully inspiring others to show kindness, care and compassion in equal measure.

The hospice is also asking people to nominate others who have shown acts of compassion, perhaps by ensuring elderly community members have all they need, by helping deliver essential medicines or food or by making regular telephone calls to check on someone’s wellbeing.

While Queenscourt is committed to celebrating the great acts of kindness and compassion being witnessed on a daily basis, #teamqueenscourt also relies on the compassion of its supporters in order to continue caring for others, when they need it the most.

As a result of Coronavirus, Queenscourt faces a significant drop in income following the temporary closure of all of its shops and the postponement of several of its key fundraising events, including Star Trekk and Make A Will Month which usually generate tens of thousands of pounds for the charity.

Queenscourt is therefore reaching out for help, asking people to make a donation via its website, or organise a fundraising event which adheres to social distancing rules of course, such as virtual quiz nights or sponsored challenges in the home.

People are already coming up with their own fundraising ideas.

As John Caddy is unable to meet his friends at the pub on a Friday evening, he is donating his beer money to Queenscourt and will give £20 a week until the pubs reopen.

Mandy Watson has donated the £20 she would have spent on her nails this month to Queenscourt and her husband Steve has also donated £20 – money he would have spent on coffee over a weekend.

Supporters are also reminded that Queenscourt’s

weekly Lottery is still operational and can be joined online at www. queenscourt.org,uk/lottery. Tickets cost just £1 and each week there is a top prize of £1,500, a second prize of £100 and 20 additional prizes of £20.

To help keep Queenscourt in service, please go to www.queenscourt.org. uk/donate or phone our fundraising team on: 01704 517420. You can also text HEART to 70300.

Thank You
