Fresh appeal as stolen pups near saleable age
POLICE investigating a raid at a licensed puppy farm say the stolen dogs are now reaching saleable age.
Thieves broke into the property on Hunters Lane, Tarleton, and made off with two litters of “cockapoo” puppies as well as adult dogs, some of which were pregnant.
The theft took place overnight on May 13/14 and one puppy died after being run over by the getaway vehicle.
Sgt Amber Yahchouchi, from Ormskirk police, described the raid as a “a disgraceful offence, undoubtably motivated by greed”. She said that the next few weeks would be pivotal as the pups reached saleable age and were expected to be advertised and sold on.
A fresh appeal for information has now been issued.
Sgt Yahchouchi said: “We appeal to the good sense and hearts of anyone who is offered one of these puppies, sees them advertised or knows of their whereabouts.
“There can be no guarantees on the health and welfare of the animals, having potentially been separated from their respective mothers and owners for a number of weeks. We also can’t guarantee they have been cared for or that they will be going to loving homes.
“Some of the pups are very distinctive, having a merle colouring and will be easy to identify. We need the public’s help and vigilance, particularly on social media groups, in identifying any leads and getting these pups back, safe and well.
“We also appeal directly to those responsible, and ask them to show some remorse and compassion, by contacting us to reunite these much loved dogs with their owners”.
