The RSPCA column Roly and Jessie need new forever homes

-

WE are delighted to have rehomed several cats in recent weeks following approval from Defra to do so; we hope Steven, Ned and Bruce, amongst others, are settling well and are happy in their new homes.

Now we have some more great news – we have started to re-home dogs again and this is proving to be very popular as we said goodbye to Nala and Albie last week!

However, please be aware that the animal centre remains closed to the public for the time being, as adoptions are being facilitated remotely via telephone and email.

We are available by telephone from 11am until 4pm every day except Wednesdays for adoption enquiries.

Bear in mind that RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District is a small rehoming centre, which does not have Inspectors, Welfare Officers or Collection Officers to attend to reports of cruelty, neglect or animals in distress; for these issues please contact the National RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.

Do you have a Lurcher-shaped space in your heart?!

We have the lovely Jessie and Roly both looking for their new forever homes:

Four-year-old Jessie is a Lurcher cross in need of a loving new home; she is a friendly girl who loves everyone she meets.

Jessie is house-trained and loves to play with toys; she can be reactive to other dogs so new owners will need to be aware of this and to keep a safe distance whilst out and about with her.

We feel Jessie would be best in an adult-only home, but a home with sensible children over the age of 15 may be considered.

We are searching for a home with Lurcher (or similar breed) experience and no other pets.

Just a couple of months older than Jessie, Roly is also four years old.

This Lurcher is an excitable, energetic, fun-loving boy in need of a new forever home. Roly is affectionate towards everyone he meets and he loves going for long walks.

He will need an adult-only home, no other pets and owners with experience of Lurchers (or similar breeds).

Roly loves company so can only be left for short periods of time and he adores playing ball with people.

He is a tall boy with lots of character and a firm favourite with all the staff and volunteers.

Jessie and Roly are, respectively, looking to be adopted into a permanent home, we are not asking for a foster arrangement.

We also have strict procedures in place (approved by Defra) which must be followed when adopting any animal. Please read these at www.rspcasouthport.org/adopting before contacting us to register your interest.

You will find a link for a ‘Perfect Match’ form for dogs on the above website, please fill one in and email it to us at info@rspcasouthport.co.uk

Don’t forget to pop along for bargains at our charity shop on Eastbank Street in Southport, which we were proud to have reopened earlier this week. Social distancing measures are being observed, with no more than three members of the public allowed in the shop at any one time.
