Children hurt as cars crash in KFC queue

TWO children were taken to hospital after their family’s car was hit while queueing at Southport’s KFC drive-through.

The youngsters were not seriously injured but taken by ambulance as a precaution on Sunday afternoon.

Two other people from another car were taken in another ambulance.

The family had been queuing for food at the seafront KFC when a Citroen C1 and Ford Focus collided at the roundabout on Marine Drive.

One of the cars was shunted across the kerb, hitting the family’s car side-on.

Police, fire and ambulance services were all sent to the scene at 3.15pm, with a total of six people checked over by paramedics.

Officers closed the road

for around an hour and a half while the incident was dealt with and three fire engines were despatched to carry out safety checks.

A spokesman for North West

Ambulance Service confirmed that patients were taken to both Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals but no-one was seriously injured.

No arrests were made.
