Two held over drugs find after police stop their car
TWO men were found with more than 150 wraps of suspected heroin and cocaine after being stopped in Southport town centre.
Officers saw them in a car deemed a “vehicle of interest” in Lord Street at about 4.50pm on Sunday and pulled them over.
The driver stopped, only for the passenger to flee, running towards Hoghton Street.
He was caught by chasing officers and both men were detained and searched, leading to the discovery of the suspected drugs.
The men, aged 36 and 29 and both of no fixed abode, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.
Southport Community Policing Inspector Graham Fisher said: “We respond to all information about suspected drug dealing and possession, which has such a devastating impact within our communities.
“If you know anything about people, locations or vehicles you believe to be involved in such activity, come forward and we will continue to take positive action and reduce the harm of drugs on our streets.”
