Praise for KGV successes

-

DAMIEN Moore praised staff and students as they celebrated their A Level results at King George V College in Southport.

The Southport MP was delighted to join KGV CEO and Principal Michelle Brabner, along with members of her senior management team including Chair of Governors Ronnie Fell and Sixth Form Centre Lead Anne-Marie Francis.

Damien Moore said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to George V College in Southport earlier today. I would like to thank Michelle Brabner for her kind invitation.

“I would like to congratulate students and staff at KGV and schools and colleges around Southport on their results this year, during a time which has been extremely challenging to everyone.

“I would like to congratulate KGV College students and staff for achieving a high number of subjects with a 100% pass rate this year.

“They should be proud - they have had to do a lot of work in a very short space of time.

“The college did share some concerns about the way a handful of students were downgraded, and

I will be liaising further with the DfE and Ofqual about these. I very much hope they will be rectified via appeal.

“I am looking forward to returning to King George V College in a few months to meet some of the new pupils.”

A high number of subjects at KGV including, Further Maths, Philosophy, Geography, History, Art, Media, Film Studies and English saw students secured 100% pass rates and impressive numbers of high grades.

Success was not limited to A level. The college also received a 100% pass rate for BTEC Advanced Level Extended Diplomas with over 90% of these at Distinction grade or above. Vocational students can set their sights at the best universities and employment with results like these.

CEO and Principal Michelle Brabner said: “We are so proud of all our learners. The excellent A Level results reflect the hard work and dedication of KGV students and staff. Equally, our BTEC students have excelled themselves.

“The class of

2020 faced real challenges and they are a credit to the college, their families and themselves.”
