Deserved victory on the road as The Bucks hit four

- CHARNOCK RICHARD BOOTLE 1 4

NW COUNTIES LEAGUE PREM DIV

CHARNOCK Richard had a good start, claiming almost 100% possession. An early yellow card was awarded to Michael Carberry after a 50/50 challenge on Haydock.

The Charnock free kick led to Bootle’s Peterson getting a low cross to hit the post, thanks to a toe from Jones. Afterwards, Charnock were awarded a free kick when Haydock was fouled.

After the Charnock free kick came to nothing, Carl Peers brought a good save from Jones on the angle for a Bootle corner, which was headed wide by Peers.

Bootle started to make chances as

Hodkinson fired over from 20 yards.

Young turned his man, got a cross into Grimshaw who chested it down but the volley was half-hearted and went straight at Jones in the Bootle goal.

Another chance was saved by Jones, who diverted the ball over the bar from a Carberry touch and Grimshaw shot.

Steven Hoy saw his shot from 30 yards fly high and a snap at the heels of Regan from Carberry, who had already been booked, led to a free kick. Young attempted a volley from the edge of the area but it went over.

A clash of heads between O’Farrell and Peterson gave Bootle a free kick 10 yards in front of the half-way line.

A well-flighted free kick found

Louis Coyne in the box who headed over Jones to put Bootle ahead.

A three on two attack from Bootle saw Hodkinson play the ball between two players waiting in the box. There was another break for Bootle as Peers found Hodkinson in the area, but he posted the ball wide of the far stick.

Ross O’Farrell got a yellow as he tripped the Bootle man in the edge of the area. The free kick was sent in and Thomas Peterson headed in for a second goal for Bootle.

Afterwards, a free kick for Charnock was headed away and went straight to Bibby who shot from a distance into the arms of Jones.

Peers went down in the area, but the referee waved a penalty appeal away.

Then, Haydock headed a Bibby cross just wide but they should have scored.

After half-time, Regan’s piledriver was tipped over by Jones. The corner eluded a few Charnock players in the box before it was cleared.

Louis Coyne then made it 3-0 for Bootle after heading in a free kick.

Danny Regan flashed a shot across goal, proving that Charnock were still going. There was a bit of ping-pong in the area and Peers cleared.

Bibby won a free kick in the centre circle and a good run from Bootle’s Hodkinson saw Bibby blocking a shot.

O’Farrell headed the corner away but it was crossed back in and Jones held at the second attempt.

There was a heart-in-mouth moment when Bibby left the ball for Jones and McGowen but the cross was over-hit. A second Bootle corner was cleared. Carberry’s drive tested Jones, tipping it over for a corner.

Charnock could not clear the lines as Jack McGowen walked through the defence and smashed it past Jones to make it 4-0 to Bootle.

A good block from Bootle’s Carberry as Regan was tied up with a shot and a cross from the left was spilled by David Jones but he reclaimed the ball.

A long throw from Ashcroft led to two chances, and a corner to Charnock. Brad Carsley found goal from close range after the corner.

A few more chances were created but the match ended 4-1 to Bootle. The visitors were the clear winners.
