Drop the Ball! A virtual quiz night raised thousands for vital charity

-

A FORMBY couple recently held a virtual Drop the Ball quiz night, raising £10,000 for a children’s charity.

Lisa and Paul Maddison’s event was in aid of Rainbow Hub, which supports children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.

Their 14-year-old daughter, Katie, has been attending Rainbow Hub for conductive education for the past 13 years.

They usually hold an annual ball for the charity, but due to the pandemic, the event was cancelled, so Lisa and Paul decided to host a fundraising virtual event.

Their Drop the Ball quiz night was sponsored by Luke Martin, MD of TSF Group, and involved families who took part in a Zoom event with two marathon question rounds, including general knowledge and music.

Lisa Maddison said:

“We want to thank everyone who joined us online.

“Special thanks to Luke Martin, Annette Mullan, of HSBC, and everyone who donated auction prizes for their support. We were disappointed that we could not hold our annual ball but we had a great evening and it was a fabulous result for Rainbow Hub.”

The winner of the quiz was Dr Peter Williams from Formby in Merseyside, and the Best Dressed Team was Lindsey, Peter, Charlie and Henry Knowles, also from Formby. All of the winners received hampers containing drinks and chocolate.

An auction also took place, with prizes including football boots signed by former LFC star Adam Lallana; a monthly floral arrangement for a year from Flowerstyle by Laurie; a Prosecco hamper; two professional wine tasting and food evenings for four; a football and photo signed by former EFC star Leighton Baines, and single malt whisky.

Prizes also included: Prosecco, white wine and a chocolate hamper, and four prizes donated by HSBC. These included tickets for Chester Zoo; a family ticket for Farmer Ted’s; a wine and chocolates hamper and a stunning diamond earrings, pendant and ring set.

Luke Martin, of MD TSF Group, said: “We are delighted to continue our financial support for Rainbow Hub, helping to preserve the vital therapeutic services they provide to children and young adults with neurological conditions”.
