Walking football returns to the Dunes

-

SOUTHPORT FC’s Walking Football returns at Dunes Leisure on Wednesday April 14 at the new time of 11am until

12.

Places must be pre-booked (£2 per week), with a maximum number of 20 places available. A reserve list will be created if more than 20 sign up.

Organisers say it proved very popular ahead of lockdown and there was a regular group having a go every week.

A club spokesman said: “We welcome everyone, new and old. It’s fun, no pressure, it’s strictly walking and you don’t have to be over-fit but it is great for your fitness.

“The age limit previously was over 50 but we can extend that to anyone over 40 from now on. We would love to get a women’s Walking Football session up and running but to make it work we would need a minimum eight people to attend. It is open age for women.”

To book your place contact Walking Football organiser Rob Urwin at rob@southportfc.net or call/text 07790 041514 by April 13.

There may be an opportunity to play other clubs’ WF teams in the future for the over 50s if anyone is interested – but the sessions at Dunes are strictly for fun!

Meanwhile, in association with Southport FC Community Trust, Wednesday Walkabout returned this week (March 31) and is back on April 7 between 12 and 1.

Get some exercise walking round the pitch, see how many laps you can do or just have a socially distanced chat with fellow supporters.

Any children coming along will receive an Easter Egg and Activity Packs will also be available. Social distancing and hand sanitising will be in place. Anyone who has programmes to collect or books to collect or pay for? Rob will be there to sort that out as well.
