New home in the park for comedy fest return

-

SOUTHPORT Comedy Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year – by unveiling a new festival vibe!

The event traditionally takes place every October at venues around the resort, including theatres, bars, restaurants, leisure attractions and others.

This year every Southport Comedy Festival show will take place in a luxury marquee at Victoria Park in Southport, complete with a Festival Beer Garden and the strongest line-up ever.

This year’s top class acts include: Jason Byrne, Reginald D Hunter, Jo Caulfield, Tom Stade, Ed Byrne, Mark Thomas, Paul Sinha, Tez Ilyas, Luisa Omielan, Hal Cruttenden, Geoff Norcott, Steve Royle, Helen Bauer, Roy Hawke, Katie Tracey, and David Eagle. Tickets are now on sale.

Southport Comedy Festival director Brendan Riley said: “It is all about bouncing back!

“This is the strongest Southport Comedy Festival line-up we have ever had.

“Guests can enjoy 16 shows across 17 days between October 1-17 – every night is a headline act! ”

Comedy-goers can expect some exciting changes this time.

Brendan added: “It is going to be fantastic this year, with a real festival feel to it.

“For the first time ever, we are going to be based inside a huge top of the range elite marquee, complete with heating, wooden floors and carpets.

“We are going to have a bar available, a Festival Beer Garden, a Festival Beer Tent, and people will be able to enjoy food and drink before the shows. It is all under cover.

“The event will also be Covid safe too. We have just successfully produced a completely Covid safe Chester Comedy Festival which went really well, so we know what we are doing.

“As ever with us, we have a pledge that people can book their tickets with confidence. If for any reason the event can’t happen, then people will get a full refund.

“I would like to give a big shout out to all of the local businesses which have sponsored Southport Comedy Festival this year, including our headline sponsor Anthony James Estate Agents and all of the others.

“This festival couldn’t happen without their support. We have had massive backing this year. Everyone wants to get out there and have a good laugh again!

“They are all local businesses who are determined to keep Southport smiling.

“We are also grateful to our other supporters, including Alan Adams from Southport Flower Show and Victoria Park Events; Mark Dilley from Elite Marquees; Mark Catherall from Sefton Council Tourism; and others.”
