Takeaway boss explains reason for poor reviews

- BY JON MACPHERSON

AN acclaimed takeaway has issued an explanation to customers following a spate of recent poor reviews.

Sea Palace, which serves a variety of food including fish and chips, pizzas and Chinese dishes, has a five out of six star rating on Just Eat.

However, the premises on Rufford Road in Southport has come under fire in recent weeks with customers voicing their disappointment at a fall in standards.

A customer named Morgan, who reviewed Sea Palace on Saturday (August 29), said the food was ‘awful’ and said they had an ‘awful eating experience’.

Another diner, Courteney, said the food was ‘low quality’ and a ‘big disappointment’.

Writing in a Southport food review Facebook group, one woman said her chow mein from Sea Palace was ‘disgusting’ and went in the bin.

Her post – which included a photo of the dish – continued: “Slops. Went in the bin. Slimy, undercooked and tasteless.”

One man responded: “Did Ant and Dec deliver this as a task?”

However, another said: “Prior to these, any great reviews for this place that usually is a very good Chinese takeaway.” Sea Palace

owner Jason Huang told the Visiter there is a reason behind the negative reviews – and said he wants to assure customers things are ‘back to normal’ now.

Jason said: “We were closed for a week because of staff holidays, then we had new temporary staff because of coronavirus.

“I have had six or seven bad reviews, and people have had their money back. I have been here for 15 years, I always want to keep the customer happy.

“Now we have all our regular staff back and things are back to normal.

“If this ever happens again, if staff have to be off, I will just close!”
