Kind Ebony shortlisted for top prize

-

AKIND-HEARTED Southport schoolgirl is celebrating after winning a place in the semi-final of Miss Teen Great Britain 2022.

Talented dancer and actress Ebony Barbé, aged 10, has beaten competition from across Great Britain to be named as one of the semifinalists.

Ebony, a pupil at Churchtown Primary School, is currently raising funds for the Together For Short Lives charity, which helps families caring for a seriously ill child to make the most of every moment together.

Last year she helped her brother Eden to raise nearly £2,000 for poorly youngsters at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

A talented performer, Ebony has already appeared in professional pantomimes and has danced in Ballroom and Latin competitions.

Her proud mum, Jenny Barbé, said: “Ebony loves to perform on stage and has been in professional pantomimes, so she would love the opportunity to be up on stage in Blackpool, where she has danced in Ballroom and Latin competitions.

“She is an advocate for healthy looking girls, and doesn’t believe in body shaming.”

Teenagers from across Great Britain will compete for the crown in a spectacular grand final. The winner of Miss Teen Great Britain will walk away with some incredible prizes – including a cash prize.

The grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain will be held later this month in Blackpool. The weekend of Miss Teen Great Britain is set to be full of fun, with the finalists enjoying a Beauty Queen Challenge Day, a pyjama diva party and much more.

Jenny Barbé said: “A casting agency got in touch with me to encourage Ebony to apply as they loved her look!

“They are all about building confidence for young girls and do a.lot of charity work for children’s charity.

“Ebony helped Eden to raise nearly £2,000 last year for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with the Danceathon.

“During the Covid pandemic and Covid lockdowns she just lost her mojo and lost her confidence with her dancing, drama and singing. It’s taken a while for her to get back to normal.

“So I think this is such a wonderful opportunity for her to build herself up again.”

Ebony Barbé said: “Making it to the grand final would be a dream come true. Fingers crossed I will be able to represent my hometown of Southport and win the Miss Teen Great Britain crown!”
