BARLEY TACTICS
• Identify the part of the field most popular and set-up as close as possible.
• Pick the largest flattened area to set decoys on to making pickingup easier – it doesn't matter if the area is in the middle fo the field.
• Set decoys on cradles or canes to
ensure flighting pigeons see them. • Flappers and rotaries work well
– Peter tends to use two rotaries
up-wind of the killing zone.
• On big days have a couple of pick ups early on and then leave the rest until you've finished.
• Arrive mid-morning to catch the start of the flight – the height of the activity is usually in the afternoon or early-evening.
• It's essential to get the birds into cold storage straight away – do not wait until the next day.
