Make the most of beans

I had some nice shooting over drilled beans earlier in the year and I’m now looking forward to them being harvested. My farmer says he won’t be ploughing the fields for another six weeks or so after cutting. Does this mean I might be able to enjoy more than one or two outings? I read somewhere that if spilled beans chit again, the birds will be onto them like a shot.

I don’t think beans become more attractive once they have chitted, it being a coincidenc­e that they will be softer to digest after enough rain to germinate the seed. Bean stubbles are always a good draw because they are the last crop to be harvested, and tend to be quite wasteful in regards to how much food is left on the ground.
