A dog for the job
I am a keen shooting man and do a variety of different types each year. However, what I enjoy most of all is walked-up shooting, particularly in Scotland where I am lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks each year. Would a hunt, point and retrieve dog enhance my enjoyment?

The HPR breeds can be excellent all-round gundogs if trained properly, but they can be more difficult to train than spaniels or retrievers. I recommend that you visit one of the larger game fairs and have a chat with some of the owners in the Breed Tent to get an idea of which type of HPR would suit your needs. Once you have found a suitable pup it would be well worthwhile looking for an experienced trainer to help you through the process of training not only your dog… but yourself as well!
