Going for gulls

-

Can you shoot seagulls if they are causing damage? I have a lot milling around on the land I shoot over, but wanted to know what grounds were required before I start shooting them. They often drift over my decoys when I’m crow shooting.

Tom says:

Lesser black backed gulls are on the general licence, which means you can control the numbers like crows and pigeons if they are causing an issue with farm damage such as crop protection. The key thing to remember is that you have to ensure that you only shoot lesser black backs because there can be other non-target species of gulls like black headed, which can often be found on drillings etc. You can check on the general licence to see if you are covered and also make sure your quarry ID is up to scratch before you start shooting them.
