Sporting Gun

Warning tinkle bells

-

I have a side-by-side game gun, and when it is tipped up I can hear a tiny tinkling noise, apparently the noise is coming from the barrels. I’m worried, does this indicate that the gun is unsafe to shoot?

It sounds as if a little bead of the solder, which holds on either the top or the bottom rib has broken loose, and is trundling up and down in the space beneath the rib, which you can hear when the gun is tipped.

Mike says:

The loose solder is not actually dangerous in itself, but it could indicate that one of the ribs in your gun is coming loose. If this is the case then I would suggest that you have the problem checked by a gunsmith.
