65: The SECR ‘O1’ 0‑6‑0, withdrawn in 2009, is the focus of attention at Sheffield Park, having new valves and piston heads fitted, valve gear re‑bushed, and the boiler off‑site for re‑tubing. 847: Front‑end attention to the ‘S15’ at the Bluebell has included a cylinder re‑bore followed by new valve and piston heads. 928: The new outer firebox sides have been welded into place on the Bluebell ‘Schools’ boiler, and the replacemen­t throatplat­e trial‑fitted. 2874: The boiler of the ex‑Barry ‘28XX’ 2‑8‑0 was lifted from the frames at the Gloucester­shire Warwickshi­re Railway on September 6. 30070: ‘USA’ 0‑6‑0T Wainwright has received draughting modificati­ons during its overhaul at the Kent & East Sussex Railway, along the lines of those already made to sister engine No. 65. 31556: The Kent & East Sussex‑based ‘P’ 0‑6‑0T needs a new crank axle as part of its current overhaul at Rolvenden. 31874: The buffers, vacuum and steam heat pipes, lubricator and its pipework have all been refitted to the ‘N’ 2‑6‑0 at Herston, and smoke deflectors trial‑fitted. 46428: The axleboxes are out of the frames of the Ivatt ‘2MT’ at Bury, and cleaning of the driving wheels and frames has started. 60009: John Cameron’s ‘A4’ has moved to the East Lancashire Railway for repairs to its running gear by Ian Riley Engineerin­g. 80105: The frames of the Bo’ness ‘4MT’ 2‑6‑4T have been lifted off the wheels. The tyres will be sent away for turning. 80151: At the opposite end of the country, this Bluebell‑based ‘Standard 4’ tank is almost ready for rewheeling, and is receiving valve and piston repairs as part of its ‘ten‑yearly’ overhaul. On the boiler, the door and tube plates have been removed for welding and insertion of new firebox lap seams.
