‘BEAR’ IN MOTION

The motion for the Groudle Glen Railway’s new 2‑4‑0T Brown Bear is now almost complete, with the slidebars, valve rods and guides all fitted. An order has been placed for the final parts ‑ the drive rods from the eccentrics ‑ with North Bay Railway Engineering of Scarborough, who are also producing the reversing gear. As reported in SR458, the order has been placed for the locomotive’s boiler with Bennett Boilers of Highbridge, but £11,000 is still needed to complete the locomotive by 2018.
