NCB style for Twizell at Tanfield
It was back to the 1950s for Robert Stephenson and Co. 0‑6‑0T No. 3 Twizell at the Tanfield Railway on February 26. The 1891‑built locomotive temporarily wore NCB lettering on its tank sides in a re‑creation of its condition while working for the National Coal Board on the nearby Beamish Railway. Twizell was in charge of coal trains throughout the day as part of the North East line’s ‘Coals to Newcastle’ event and is pictured at the start of the climb from Causey to Andrews House.
