As an accomplished local historian, his research has clearly been very thorough, which, combined with his personal observations and those of other enthusiasts, makes for a highly detailed history of the last years of steam in this area. it’s more something to dip into for research purposes than tackle in one go, but you’re sure to learn something new or find an anecdote to entertain.
