Then, in magical Trieste, you get to visit the local railway museum and sightsee, before riding Europe’s most interesting funicular tramway. The ‘Land of Contrasts’ then awaits as you spend a few days on a special steam charter in North-eastern Italy, through a richly contrasting region replete with mountains, vineyards, surging rivers and emerald-green lakes.
