WILL THE DONCASTER ‘P2’ FRAMES PLEASE STAND UP?
After three years of lying flat on a wagon, the frames of the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust’s replica No. 2001 Cock O’ The North are now displayed upright. Cut by Tata Steel at Scunthorpe in 2014, the 2½-ton frame plates were craned into position at the South Yorkshire Air Museum during May, being held up by support brackets on an apple green bogie wagon. The first of eight brake hangers has been produced, and a ‘Sponsor a Component’ scheme will shortly be launched on the group’s Facebook page (https://goo.gl/6nz6Vf).
