‘DUCHESS’ GETS ITS STRIPES

-

As a final touch prior to its planned repaint in red this winter, No. 46233 Duchess of Sutherland has turned the clock back to 1964 with the application of the late BR crest and the yellow cabside stripe. The last examples of this class received the yellow stripe that year to denote they were banned from working south of Crewe under the overhead wires. No decision has yet been taken as to whether No. 46233 will carry LMS or BR red after its repaint (SR468).
