BBC STAR ‘JOEM’ GOES HOME TO KEIGHLEY FOR 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Worsdell ‘J72’ 0‑6‑0T No. 69023 ‘Joem’ will return to its first preservation home of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway next summer, for the line’s 50th anniversary. NELPG, owners of the locomotive since 1982, have agreed that it can visit the KWVR from June 18 to July 2 2018, encompassing the anniversary date of the line’s reopening on June 29. The ‘J72’ entered preservation at the KWVR in 1966 and took part in the BBC version of The Railway Children in 1968. It then moved on to the Yorkshire Dales Railway (Embsay) in 1975 and the Derwent Valley Light Railway in 1977, and has not been back to Keighley since.
