BBC STAR ‘JOEM’ GOES HOME TO KEIGH­LEY FOR 50TH AN­NIVER­SARY

Wors­dell ‘J72’ 0‑6‑0T No. 69023 ‘Joem’ will re­turn to its first preser­va­tion home of the Keigh­ley & Worth Val­ley Rail­way next sum­mer, for the line’s 50th an­niver­sary. NELPG, own­ers of the lo­co­mo­tive since 1982, have agreed that it can visit the KWVR from June 18 to July 2 2018, en­com­pass­ing the an­niver­sary date of the line’s re­open­ing on June 29. The ‘J72’ en­tered preser­va­tion at the KWVR in 1966 and took part in the BBC ver­sion of The Rail­way Chil­dren in 1968. It then moved on to the York­shire Dales Rail­way (Emb­say) in 1975 and the Der­went Val­ley Light Rail­way in 1977, and has not been back to Keigh­ley since.
