RICHMOND FLEET EXPANDS ITS FACILITIES

-

The Richmond Light Railway’s annual open day was held on August 19. Located close to Headcorn in Kent, the private railway is still a work-in-progress, and visitors found a short length of new track which enabled the operation of three trains using four locomotives. Joining the home fleet was Bagnall 0-4-0ST Armistice, which visited from the nearby Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway for the weekend. A new three-road station building/carriage shed, timber clad on a steel frame, was in use, although still in need of some finishing touches. Owner Jeremy Martin has added the Boston Lodge-based 0-4-0VBT Leary to his collection. It was built in 2010 by a group of Ffestiniog Railway volunteers, who are now building a new locomotive, taking advantage of their experience of operating Leary over the last seven years.
