Alan Pegler’s preserved ‘A3’ No. 4472 Flying Scotsman sweeps round the curve on the east side of Farnborough station, hauling the Gainsborough Model Railway Society’s appropriately titled ‘Farnborough Flyer’ for the air show on September 10 1966. Now Fifty-one years on, and Flying Scotsman - now owned by the nation and carrying its final BR green guise – is snapped in the same location. This time, it’s working the ‘Cathedrals Express’ from Salisbury to London Victoria for Steam Dreams, on May 31 this year.
