RILEY RETAINS ‘A3’
‘A3’ Flying Scotsman is expected to remain in the custodianship of Riley & Son (E) Ltd. The National Railway Museum has announced that agreement for operating and maintaining the Gresley ‘Pacific’ had been agreed in principle with the firm that operated No. 60103 between January 2016 and the end of 2017. ‘SCOT’ FOR KWVR 50TH
Royal Scot will appear at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway’s 50th anniversary celebrations. No. 46100 will operate passenger services on June 25-June 27. ‘2MT’ No. 41241 is being overhauled and returned to its 1968 red livery, while ‘USA’ No. 30072 should also run, allowing these engines to recreate the June 29 1968 reopening train.
‘WELLS’ APPEAL PASSES £50K
Just six weeks after its launch, the East Lancashire Railway’s appeal for £340,920 to purchase ‘West Country’ City of Wells had raised over £50,000. The sum doesn’t include donations that have been pledged (SR473).
CAMERA CLUB EXHIBITION
Work of members of the Railway Camera Club (originally established in 1922 as the Railway Photographic Society by Maurice Earley) will go on display at Locomotion, Shildon on January 20. The exhibition will remain on display until March 4.
NRM HLF
The National Railway Museum has submitted its £12 million-plus application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for the redevelopment of the Great Hall (SR469). It expects to learn in 2018 whether it will be given Stage 1 approval.
