‘SCOT’ READIES FOR LSL TRIAL…
Nothing new ever happens, right? You might want to remind yourself of that on April 14, when Saphos Trains’ first trip launches both a new promoter and train operator – on the same day Tornado hauls its debut 90mph-permitted charter. You can read about the ‘A1’ – including the ‘prep’ for 90mph – elsewhere in this issue. As for Saphos, well, weeks before its first trip two of its trains are already full, with others showing only ‘limited availability’. With sales undoubtedly turboboosted by introductory £45 tickets (SR476), the limited availability means that only individual seats dotted around the train are still available. If you want one, you’ll need to ring and book by phone rather than taking the 21st-century route of buying online. As for ongoing preparations, ‘lead engine’ No. 46100 Royal Scot is expected back at Crewe by the time you read this, ready for a trial trip on the North Wales Coast. That’s due to take place around ten days earlier.
