TORNADO ‘ROYAL SCOTSMAN’ TRIP IS OFF
It was to have been the country’s most exclusive steam railtour: a round-Britain bash using the ‘Royal Scotsman’ for Tornado’s tenth anniversary. However, with around eight months to go before the planned departure of the trip from Edinburgh in October, organiser Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has decided to pull the plug. The reason? Take-up hasn’t been what was hoped for, with bookings so far under half of where they needed to be. Maximum capacity on the luxury tour was 38, with tickets from £29,995 sharing. Although not exclusively involving the ‘A1’, the trip was primarily to employ No. 60163 on an itinerary that included both Inverness and Penzance (SR473).
