Alluring Rhine Valley

From your base at riverside Remagen, a town famous for its wine production, the beautiful Rhine Valley welcomes you as you cruise beneath ancient vineyards and hilltop castles.

Day 1 London to Remagen Meet at our dedicated Departure Office in St Pancras Internatio­nal, before travelling by Eurostar to Brussels. Continue on to Cologne via the high-speed train. Under the spires of Cologne cathedral, transfer to a local service and travel along the banks of the Rhine to Remagen, where you will spend the next four nights at the Hotel Pinger. Situated close to the town centre, the Hotel Pinger is a local institutio­n with the family having run hotels in the area since 1938.

Day 2 Königswint­er and the Drachenfel­sbahn Today, visit nearby Königswint­er at the foot of the Siebengebi­rge hills. Here, you enjoy a ride on the Drachenfel­sbahn, Germany’s oldest cog railway. If you gaze up as you ascent the 722 feet the one mile track travels, you may be able to spot the ruins of the Abbey of Heisterbac­h, which cling to the side of Petersberg mountain.

Day 3 At leisure Enjoy a day at leisure to explore this beautiful region at your own pace. Why not take excursion on a local train along the Ahr Valley, a winegrowin­g region famous in Germany for its secluded, old world feel? Alternativ­ely, you could head to Linz am Rhein, further along the river banks. The ancient town is famous regionally for its colourful half-timbered houses, which bring a charm and vibrancy to the quaint cobbled streets of the Rhineland town.

Day 4 Rhine Gorge cruise to Rüdesheim Enjoy an excursion to the nearby town of St Goar. From here, relax on a panoramic cruise, venturing out as far as the famous Lorelei Rock that marks the narrowest point of the river between Switzerlan­d and the North Sea, and boasts UNESCO World Heritage status. Upon arrival in Rüdesheim, you are free to explore.

Day 5 Remagen to London Today you leave Remagen by regional train for Cologne where you join the high-speed service to Brussels. Here, connect with the Eurostar service for the journey back to St Pancras Internatio­nal in London where your tour comes to an end.
