Days 1-2. London to Remagen

Meet at Rail Discoverie­s’ Departure Office at St Pancras, where you board the Eurostar to Brussels. Continue via Cologne to Remagen, a charming town on the banks of the Rhine, where you spend seven nights at the 3* Hotel Pinger. Day 2 is spent in Remagen with a visit to the Peace Museum at the famous bridge in the town, strategica­lly taken by US Forces in 1945.

Day 3. Cochem

Today you visit the pretty town of Cochem, overlooked by the majestic Reichsburg castle. Free time allows you to explore its quaint streets, such as the castle and the historic wine taverns. Cheerfully-coloured townhouses, cobbled pavements and merry riverfront inns give Cochem the flavour of a true Rhineland-Palatinate town.

Days 4-5. Rhine Gorge cruise

Today’s excursion takes you by rail to St Goar, where you will join a boat for a pleasure cruise through the timeless and iconic Rhine Gorge. One of the most scenic and striking sights along the Rhine River, the Rhine Gorge is dominated by the legendary Lorelei Rock, situated in the centre of the river. Stop at Rüdesheim then after some free time, head back to the hotel by rail. Enjoy a free day in Remagen on Day 5.

Days 6-7. Boppard

Today and Day 7 are at leisure. You may wish to take the train to Boppard. Once a Roman fort, Boppard has earned UNESCO World Heritage status thanks to its impressive castle and its time-honoured viticultur­e.

Day 8. Return to London

After breakfast, take the train to Cologne, where you change for the service to Brussels. From here join the Eurostar to London St Pancras, where your holiday concludes.
