‘CALEDONIAN’ SLEEPING CARS START SECOND LIFE ON STEAM RAILWAYS
Surplus Mk 3 sleeping cars have been sold to preserved lines as volunteer accommodation, having been replaced on the Caledonian Sleeper by new Mk 5 vehicles. Here, Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 0-6-0ST No. 51456 (752) shunts the two examples purchased by the East Lancashire Railway, in the yard at Bury Baron Street shed. Others have gone to Didcot Railway Centre, and the Bluebell, Cambrian Heritage, Ecclesbourne Valley and Mid-Norfolk railways.
