ENGINEERING FIRM TAKES OVER ELSECAR BUSINESS INTERESTS
All business interests at the Elsecar Heritage Railway are now in the hands of AES South Yorkshire Ltd.
The firm has had a longstanding relationship with the Yorkshire coalfield line, being involved for the last eight years in the extension of the railway to Cortonwood, alongside a number of other projects.
The move means that all events, footplate experience courses and the sourcing of crews is now the responsibility of AES South Yorkshire Ltd alongside the engineering work.
The deal was agreed in February 2020 and more recently announced publicly.
It is planned to last for five years, at which point the railway will return to the hands of the charitable trust behind the EHR.
