Police hunt car thieves

-

A BMW worth around £25,000 has been stolen from outside a house in Braehead.

Thieves made off with the vehicle, which was parked at an address on Abbot Road, sometime between 7.30pm on Thursday and 7.30am the following morning.

Police believe crooks forced entry to a door at the rear of the property and stole the keys before driving off in the car.

They also took a quantity of jewellery and electrical items from the house, which was empty at the time of the break-in with the occupants returning from a holiday.

The car, a BMW 335D, is black in colour with the registration plate WR63 FSC. It is thought to cost more than £27,000 brand new.

Officers are appealing for anyone who knows anything about this crime, or witnessed anything which could be of help to the police, to come forward.

Inspector Donna Bryans of Stirling police said: “The owners are upset and distressed at this violation to their home.

“The thieves forced entry to the property and stole the keys before taking the vehicle.

“It may be that someone saw the car either parked up or on the road on Thursday night into Friday morning, or has seen it since. We would ask them to get in touch.

“Also, if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious in this area it’s important that they come forward.”

Anyone with information which could help officers in their investigation should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
