Police following lines of inquiry in hunt for gang who stole cigarettes
Police are continuing to investigate an assault and robbery in which a delivery driver was targeted on a busy Bridge of Allan street earlier this month.
Officers are still following up lines of enquiry as they try to catch the crooks responsible for the incident which happened outside McColl’s in Fountain Road at around 10.30am on Friday, October 7. A quantity of cigarettes were stolen during the robbery.
The 41-year-old victim was left “very shaken”by the ordeal, which police are linking to a similar crime in which a 55-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in Kinnaird Village, Larbert, later on the same morning.
Officers are looking to trace three men seen in a silver car near both incidents.
Detective Inspector Kenny McAndrew of Stirling CID said:“I want to thank the local community for their utmost support and assistance with this investigation so far.
“Although neither of the victims was seriously injured both were very shaken, and we are determined to use all resources at our disposal to trace the perpetrators.
“I want to reassure the public that no similar incidents have since been reported in the area and we’re currently pursuing a number of positive lines of enquiry.”
Fountain Road was closed off for much of the day as police investigated the incident and local shopkeepers and business owners spoke of their shock.
Anyone with any information which could help in the investigation should ring 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
