Alva Pensioners The monthly dance will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 7.30pm with music provided by Raymond Carse. A light supper will be served. Country Dance Classes are held on Mondays at 7pm at the Alva Academy Dance Studio. Age Concern Whist and dominoes are played tomorrow (Thursday) at 2pm in Alva Parish Church Hall. Parish Church The annual autumn fair will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 11am-2pm. All donations for the various stalls will be welcomed. Soup, sandwiches, coffee, tea and cakes will be served. Tickets are £2 for adults, £1 for children and £5 for families.

Miners Welfare Social Club Bingo Mondays and Wednesdays at 8pm. Bannockbur­n Community Council Meetings take place in the community centre on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. Allan Church Service on Sunday starts at 11.15am. Sunday school during service and creche available. Prayer group meets at 10.45am. All welcome. Service will be led by Janette Russell. Welcome Team 1 on duty. Lunch Club The club meets from noon-2pm in Allan Church Hall on the second Monday of every month. Next date November 14. All members of the community welcome, but particular­ly the elderly and those who live alone. Cost £2.50 includes home-made soup, filled roll, tea/coffee and biscuits. Craft Club Club meets every two weeks on Wednesdays from 2-4pm in Allan Church Hall. Next meeting is today (Wednesday) making Christmas cards. Forthcomin­g dates and activities: November 2 (festive floristry); November 16 (have a go yourself) and November 30 (cake decorating). If you have an expertise and would like to help out or if you a wish to learn something new, then please come along. You can bring your own materials if wished. Donations accepted. Stirling Christadel­phian Church Hour at the church at 40 Main Street, Bannockbur­n, is held every Sunday from 2.30pm with Sunday school at the same time. Bible Blairlogie and District SWI At last week’s meeting, members and visitors enjoyed an illustrate­d insight into the work of Glasgow Wood Recycling Project. Amazingly this company transforms used and discarded wood into beautiful household and garden furniture, as well as gazebos and screens, and many other interestin­g projects. Thanks to Eileen for the talk. Competitio­ns: Treacle Toffee - 1 Elaine Minty; 2 Holley Minty; Decorated Apple - 1 Barbara Waugh; 2 Holley Minty. Next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 9 in Menstrie Scout Hall when Linda Gardner of Strathearn Wools will demonstrat­e. Competitio­ns will be an individual fruit crumble and a knitted scarf, any ply.

Lunch Club The lunch club meets on Wednesdays in the Crawford Hall, Colquhoun Street from 1-3pm and the older members of the community are invited. They will be welcome to come on their own or with a friend or carer. Bingo East Argyll Centre in Colquhoun Street has bingo every Tuesday and Thursday, eyes down 7.30pm. Adults art classes Profession­al artist and award winning teacher Laura Newbury is holding classes for all levels with beginners welcome on Thursdays from 7-9pm in the Crawford Hall, Colquhoun Street. Bridge of Allan Parish Church Sunday worship takes place at the usual time of 11am and will be conducted by Rev Dan Harper. Sunday School meets at the usual time and there will be a creche. Everybody welcome. Flu Vaccine Clinics Annual flu vaccinatio­n clinics will be held on Tuesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 17. Please contact the practice as soon as possible to book your appointmen­t. Everyone eligible for the vaccinatio­n is encouraged to attend as there will be limited clinics following this to offer the vaccine. The flu vaccine is available to everyone over 65 years or under 65 if you are pregnant; an unpaid carer or have a condition such as asthma, diabetes or any other long-term illness. Clinic dates have also been arranged for children aged two-five years old who are not attending school – please contact the health centre to arrange an appointmen­t on 01786 833210 (option 5). If you are under 65 years and do not come into any of the above categories but wish the vaccinatio­n you should enquire at your local pharmacy. St Saviour’s Episcopal Church Eucharist (Communion) services are at the usual times: Sunday at 8am and 10am (Sung Eucharist). Young church and creche take place in the church hall during the service.
