Bowlers deliver table topper win

Another superb performanc­e last Saturday saw Stirling consolidat­e their top position in the Scottish League First Division after just two matches.

Following their opening home victory the previous week, super Stirling again turned on the style this time at Cumbernaul­d to run out worthy 36-shot winners.

After going into a 20-shot advantage at the halfway mark, the result was never in doubt as Stirling forged further ahead by the minute to finish with three winning rinks.

Leading the charge was David McEwan sen., James Wray, David McEwan jun. and Gary Craig who stormed to a 43-10 thumping of GaryWilson’s four.

Gary Brown, James Brown, Jason Williams and Bryan Stillie also had a comfortabl­e win by finishing 25-11 ahead of F Hillis and company. Lee Neilson, Steve Whitton, David Stewart and Gary Malcolmson won 23-17 against Jim Byron.

Losing out on this occasion were Eric Anderson, Sandy Deans, Billy Guy and Danny McCormick who went down 29-13 to A Barrie.Totals: Stirling 103, Cumbernaul­d 67.

Stirling, now the only undefeated club after two matches, are back on the road on Saturday when they head for nearest challenger­s Coatbridge.

The indoor ladies also had a good league victory last Saturday when that defeated Cumbernaul­d 92-81 at the Stirling stadium.

Meanwhile the Stirling senior gents team are still looking for their first league victory after losing at Fintry by 11 shots. This was their third successive defeat.
