McMillan wants Corrigan togetjob

Stirling Albion skipper Ross McMillan believes caretaker boss Martyn Corrigan should be handed the job on a permanent basis.

The former Clyde and Largs Thistle defender, who celebrates his 34th birthday tomorrow, insists the squad are fully behind the former Stenhousemuir manager.

The Binos have beaten Cowdenbeath and drawn with Berwick Rangers since Corrigan replaced Stuart McLaren and McMillan believes the ex-Motherwell full-back has already made a big impact.

He said: “The boys have really kicked on in training and there seems to be a freshness about the place. Everyone is working for everyone and I think it’s got a lot to do with Martyn, to be honest.

“We are just trying our best for him because we don’t know what the future is going to be for any of us if a new manager comes in.

“Everyone is behind him 100 per cent and we would be delighted if he got the job. A lot of people that came to the club this year thought he was actually the manager at first. The boys like him and want him to be here.

“I played with Martyn at Stenhousemuir. He was my centre-half partner then he had an injury and became the manager. He took the club from bottom of the league to fifth in the table but for some reason they decided to let him go and it went downhill for them after that.

“He was a great manager and still is. Hopefully he will get the job.”
