Strathendrick made it nine wins out of nine in BT West League Division Three, registering yet another clean sheet as they had towards the title.

For Saturday’s league match at Fintry there were some changes in the Endrick starting lineup, with back-row duo Ewan MacKay and James Ogilvy both being sidelined with injuries.

But it is a happy sign of the times at Endrick that these and other vacancies were more than adequately filled and another comprehensive win was safely recorded.

From the start play was mainly in the visitors’ half and Bishopton were hard-pressed to keep Endrick’s pack out.

They were eventually beaten after seven minutes when Angus North was released 40 metres out and he made a great run to the corner for the first try.

Ten minutes later he was again on the score sheet when he raced clear to score at the posts. Kyle Campbell added the extra points.

Endrick’s centres featured again in the next score after 22 minutes when James Cuthbertson charged through and was well assisted by Murray Calderwood who went on to score, Campbell again converting.

Before half an hour had been played Endrick secured the try bonus when North completed his hat-trick, his last contribution before retiring with a hand injury. Campbell kicked the extra points for a 26-0 interval lead.

The home side started the second half determined to stay on top and after two minutes Sam Greenock and Cuthbertson combined to add a fifth try and Campbell converted.

Five minutes later Ruaraidh Doyle sprinted through to score out wide.

The Fintry forwards dominated their opponents all through and in 54 minutes when they disrupted the Bishopton scrum Gavin Scott nicked in to score.

Endrick gave a run to all their subs including a completely new front row that, although noticeably lighter than their opponents, continued to push them about.

Bishopton fought to the end and although they failed to score any points, they did manage to keep Endrick scoreless for the final quarter of the game. On Saturday, Endrick make the short trip to Bonhill to meet Loch Lomond, kick-off 2pm.

Endrick: Anderson; McLaughlin, North, J Cuthbertson, McGill; Campbell, Greenock; M Scott, McNeill, McKay, Vickers, Calderwood, G Scott, Nixon and Callander, Subs: Carswell, Christie, S Cuthbertson, Davies, Doyle, Gibson and McDonald.
