Hogmanay parade on city streets
The streets of Stirling are set to be lit up again this Hogmanay.
The Hogmanay Parade that was introduced last year is set to return, and fireworks above Stirling Castle will bring in the Bells.
The procession will start at Mar’s Walk near the Castle at 6.30pm and make its way through the city centre to Port Street, where further entertainment will commence.
Participants will make and carry their own lanterns, and the parade will be animated and enhanced by performances from musicians, bands and arts groups.
A Midnight Moment of fireworks will be held across the city skyline - however there will be no large musical event at the Esplanade this year.
In the run-up to the procession on December 31, there will be a series of workshops at the Old Town Jail in Stirling.
The workshops are for anyone who wishes to take part and Stirling Council has said it wants to get as many people involved in the parade as possible.
The workshops will be arranged into two sessions per workshop day. Places are limited to 30 people per session (including children). Each person can book a maximum of two sessions, this will be enough time to complete the lanterns. For full details, visit www. stirlingwinterfestival.com
The council decided to ditch the annual concert at Stirling Castle last year, in favour of a more family-orientated event, including people of all ages and drinking will again not be permitted at the parade.
