Stirling and District Schools Pipe Band has been shortlisted for Pipe Band of the Year in the Scots Trad Music Awards.

The youth band, who this year took the Bruce 700 to Germany, has reached the final four in their category, with the winner being announced at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards and Gala Concert at the Caird Hall in Dundee on December 3.

Band secretary Gwyneth Clark, said, “This is an amazing achievement for our young people.

“To even be nominated, never mind making it this far in such a strong category is testament to the commitment, dedication and talent of our members.

“The whole ethos of our pipe band family has been recognised by this nomination and to win would be such a validation.

“We may not be the biggest band on the short list, or have access to the best resources, but we play with passion and the joy of sharing our music, and that is what these awards are all about.”

This will be the 14th Scots Trad Music Awards whose primary aim is to highlight Scotland’s wonderful traditional music in all its forms.

Winners are chosen by the public and the online voting lines are now open. To help Stirling and District Schools Pipe Band win visit www.handsupfortrad.scot/ scotstradmusicawards and give them your vote.

The award ceremony will be broadcast live on BBC ALBA, with an additional highlights programme being shown over the festive season.
