Seven-day scheme is positive move
Stirling Council confirmed that a new seven day a week operation is set to be put in place to improve the bins service.
A spokesperson said:“We would like to thank the public for their continued patience and understanding during this transitional period, where the service is changing for over 40,000 households.
“With a change that involves every property in the district, it is to be expected that we will face some challenges and will continue to do our best to address them.
“As of Monday (November 7) approximately 65,000 bins have been delivered to 32,000 households right across the Stirling Council area.
“All urban areas have now received their new bins, the small number of remaining rural communities will receive theirs over the next two weeks and our city centre properties will shortly receive information about the bag-based system that will be operating in the city centre, as this is our most constrained area.
“Following positive engagement and agreement with our staff and trade unions, we are pleased to confirm that the new seven day a week operation is now in place which will allow us to concentrate resources on serving our communities.
“It has been a particular challenge operating two systems over the transition period and we are pleased that the old kerbside system will be winding down by the end of this week.
“Again this will allow us to concentrate resources and the new arrangements will have long-term benefits both for the standard of service and for the environment.”
Last week the Observer reported that the local authority were to conduct a review into the way the new system was being rolled out following complaints and widespread confusion over when bins will be lifted.
